Our philosophy
Architecture is always shaped by the richness of its surroundings—by the presence of nature such as mountains and sea, and by the cultural layers of existing cities, histories, and communities. By integrating these conditions into the design process, we believe architecture can generate living environments and ways of life that are more meaningful, generous, and enduring.
Many buildings that exist today were created in response to the needs of their time. Some were conceived from narrow or temporary perspectives, without necessarily considering the broader spatial continuity of the environment, the fabric of the city, or their long-term relationship to the past, present, and future. The architecture we seek to create must instead be grounded in a wider horizon—one that resonates with contemporary life while remaining adaptable to future possibilities.
Our practice operates between Tokyo, Berlin, and Paris. By observing diverse lifestyles, cultures, histories, religions, languages, and local conditions in relative and comparative ways, we navigate across multiple value systems. This allows us to propose spaces that are rooted in their specific context while opening toward creative and sustainable futures.
We aim to design environments in which users become active participants—spaces that cultivate genuine relationships between people, architecture, culture, and the environment. Through this approach, we strive to create architecture that fosters essential richness and meaningful connection.
